The initiative will be executed in collaboration with the General Authority for Veterinary Services and other agencies, focusing on enhancing livestock management, improving animal health, and combating antibiotic-resistant microbes.
Alaa added that the project’s first phase will involve cultivating 1,000 acres, expected to be completed by September 2025.
He highlighted the sector’s contribution to over 15% of the GDP, its employment of more than a quarter of the national workforce.
Onions ranked third with 287,748 tons exported, while beans came in fourth with 239,246 tons.
According to the report, Egypt's agricultural exports exceeded about 6.4 million tons of agricultural products, an increase of more than 529 thousand tons over the same period in 2023.
